Although you can’t eliminate the risk of becoming a victim of cybercrime, you can control how you react if your identity, accounts, devices, or information are compromised. A fast and complete response limits the damage caused by hacking, facilitates rapid recovery and gives you the peace of mind you need.

So let’s look at common cyber attack scenarios and the steps you should take immediately.

Script: After you file your taxes, you receive a notice from the Internal Revenue Service that your return has been rejected because a return has already been filed using your Social Security Number (SSN). This is a classic case of identity theft. What are your next steps?

  1. Report the theft of SSN to IdentityTheft.gov and file a local police report.
  2. Block your credit at all major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) to prevent fraudsters from establishing new lines of credit with your identity.
  3. Continue to monitor your existing lines of credit for any signs of account fraud.
  4. Keep track of and immediately close any fraudulent accounts opened using your SSN. Then report it to the fraud department of the credit card company or bank involved, as well as to major credit bureaus.
  5. Visit the Federal Trade Commission site if you need more information.

Script: You start to hear your contacts say that they are getting emails from your account asking them to wire you money, or maybe click on a suspicious link. Chances are, a cybercriminal has stolen your email password and now has access to your account. So what should you do?

  1. Use reputable antivirus product to remove any malicious infection on your devices.
  2. Also, make sure you have the latest versions of your browser, operating system, and software on your devices.
  3. Change your email password to something long and unique. (Make sure you’re doing this from a clean, malware-free device.) Consider using a password manager to create and securely store your passwords.
  4. Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) as another layer of protection to confirm your identity and protect access to your accounts. Examples of MFA options include security keys, push notifications, biometrics, and authenticator apps.
  5. Look for unusual activity with your social media accounts and check your email filters for any changes to your account (such as emails set to auto-forward).
  6. Make sure that any other online accounts that use your hacked email address as their account registration address have not been impacted.
  7. Alert your contacts of the attack. Remind them to ignore suspicious emails and avoid clicking on links in emails.
  8. Review the specific advice given by your email provider regarding restoring your account.

Script: Strange advertisements start appearing on your computer. It also spins slower than normal. You may have fallen victim to an online scam and clicked on a link you shouldn’t have, or downloaded content from an untrustworthy site. Malware has taken control of your machine. Now what?

  1. Use reputable antivirus product to clean malware infection on your devices.
  2. Contact an IT or IT professional to remove the malware if the problem persists after using your antivirus product. This is especially true for ransomware, a type of malware that locks your device or encrypts your electronic files and demands a ransom to restore them.
  3. Make sure your operating system, browsers and software are up to date. Enable automatic updates when available, as these updates often include significant security enhancements.

Change the passwords of all online accounts used while your computer was infected. But create the new passwords from a malware-free device, not your infected computer.

Script: You notice multiple charges to your credit card at a surf shop in Venice Beach, California. Only problem? You live in Iowa and have never surfed a day in your life. It looks like a cyber thief has stolen your credit card number and is shopping. What are your next steps?

  1. Contact your credit card provider immediately to notify them of this credit card theft. In most cases, your provider will catch any fraud before you do, reject the charge, and send you a new card.
  2. Make sure to update all automatic payments related to your old credit card.
  3. Consider receiving security credit fraud alerts that notify you when unrecognized device connections to your accounts occur or if your password changes.

Script: Your cell phone suddenly stops working. You cannot send text messages, make calls, or even receive messages. You may be the victim of a phone carrier scam. You feel panicked. Much of your life is connected to this phone. Plus, all of your financial accounts are set up with multi-factor authentication, with a one-time password texted to you. This means that the fraudster could intercept the password and possibly infiltrate your accounts. What should you do?

  1. Immediately contact your mobile carrier and financial institutions to let them know that a porting attack (which occurs when a fraudster convinces your mobile carrier to port your number to a new device) has occurred.
  2. Help protect yourself against future attacks by having your carrier add additional security measures whenever a porting change has been requested. Many carriers will allow you to set a password for your account so anyone calling to make changes will need to provide the password.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, helpless, or even violated after being hacked. But, taking immediate corrective action can mitigate the damage from a breach and put you back in control.

In addition, your Morgan Stanley financial advisor is ready to help you secure your financial accounts and can direct you to other resources for additional assistance.

Here are some very simple tips to achieve with which you will save space to be able to install the applications that interest you, take more photos, receive new content from your friends or that you smartphone go a bit lighter.

Memory cards

If your mobile allows it, because some models do not have expandable memory, you can use a memory card. You only have to choose the one that interests you the most and that is compatible with your smartphone, taking into account the maximum storage it can have. You need to assess what you are going to need and the budget you have for it, although the more the better.

There are a large number of souvenirs that adapt to the needs of all users, in terms of space, brand, price and characteristics, so you can choose the one that interests you the most. You can also use a microSD card or card you have at home.

So you won’t have to spend time deleting photos, videos, uninstalling apps that interest you nor give up anything if you have little storage on your mobile.

Buy cloud storage

A good way to save memory is to buy storage in the cloud, because there you can download the photos and videos that interest you, the largest files and everything that takes up space on your mobile and that you can have in the cloud.

You can resort to free servicessuch as Google Drive or Google Photos for some of your memories, which also have their own paid version if you want to extend your limits, or others Payment that offer you the maximum guarantees, security and more storage space.

If you work with your mobile or have a business, do not hesitate to consider this option and find a service adapted to your professional needs.

free up storage space

Another thing you can do is to free up storage space on your mobile. You don’t have to give up anything you don’t want. You can enjoy cleaning eliminating anything you don’t need, haven’t used in a long time, or is bothering your mobile.

You can also transfer to your laptop or desktop files you want to keep, but you rarely consult your smartphone. Analyze what you would like to continue to have and what you are not.

pc computer connected motorola mobile

For example, you can save your vacation photosvideos you have made in recent months, memories of family or past events, recordings of concerts you have attended, etc. computer or external hard drive.

So anything you save on your computer or hard drive will be kept safe and secure. won’t take up space on your mobilesince you can delete it from its memory because you already have it somewhere else.

Although you can do this with a cloud storage service, the advantage is that you you control your files And also you don’t have to pay for it.

Are you a Marvel fan obsessed with the latest Disney+ show “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”? Well, me too.

When I saw Jennifer Walters — aka She-Hulk — had a phone number, I thought I’d call and ask if she could save me from my personal emergency. (I was at work and it was Friday.)

The number was originally pasted on the new San Diego Comic-Con “She-Hulk” posters, which instructed me to dial 1-877-SHE-HULK for the special surprise.

I didn’t expect the number to work, but it did.

However, it wasn’t Jennifer on the phone. I heard a voicemail from Titania, the ridiculous antagonist of the nine-episode series.

Played by Jameela Jamil, Titania trademarked “She-Hulk”. She was also seen vandalizing “She-Hulk” posters and crashing New York Fashion Week, according to comics.

But this time, she managed to hack Jennifer’s real phone number.

“Hi, it’s me, Titania, global lifestyle icon,” she said on the voicemail. “Now, as you may have heard, I now own the trademark for ‘She-Hulk’ and so this phone number is now mine.”

She then tells fans to follow her on Instagram and Twitter. “I love you,” she said at the end. “Not you, Jennifer.”

Distract reported about this work issue in July. But at the time, the voicemail was from She-Hulk.

“Hi, you’ve reached GLK&H’s Superhuman Law Division,” the message began, when another voice chimed in, “Okay, but save it as She-Hulk!”

You hear her transform into a superhero, then she continues to record the message.

“Your call is very important to us. Our associates are not available to take your call at this time, but please stay tuned to learn more about our services here at GLK&H,” she said. “Were you fined for thousands of dollars in damage to the city you were trying to protect? Did you accidentally create a sentient robot that felt and tried to destroy the world? Maybe you’re an Asgardian god who leaves a giant, burning footprint on private property every time you come to Earth.

“We have your back. Our associates in GLK&H’s Superhuman Law Division will fight for your rights to fight for the rights of everyone else, because that’s what superheroes are. But don’t take my word for it. Here are some testimonials from our satisfied customers,” she says, asking another person, “And this is where we prove customers right?

I’m willing to bet Mountain West will conveniently lose the phone number for a few of these FCS programs after winning 1-2 against the lower Division I tier last weekend. Weber State and Incarnate Word looked more like FBS teams in wins over Utah State and Nevada, respectively. Overall, FCS won four matches in Week 2 against FBS foes.

Holy Cross had his prayers answered in a Hail Mary against Buffalo. Coach Bob Chesney is an excellent recruiter and talent developer. He’s aiming for his fourth straight Patriot League title and FCS playoff berth, which has never been done before in the program’s storied history. The two-time NE10 Coach of the Year and Patriot League Coach of the Year is one of the best coaches in all of college football.

Week 2 was an extremely crazy week, as noted above, but I had the pleasure of being the color analyst for the Fordham-Monmouth game, which saw over 1,400 total rushing yards , a third-string rush for 299 yards on 12 carries and two quarterbacks that combined for eight touchdown passes. Fordham won the game 52-49, spoiling the Hawks’ home opener.

Here’s what the FCS Power Poll looks like for week 3.

Largest Riser: Eastern Kentucky — #16 (last week: 23)
New This Week: Youngstown State, Central North Carolina
Dropout: East Tennessee State, Stephen F. Austin, East Washington, Southeast Louisiana, UC Davis

Camp is president of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), an association of more than 3,000 lawyers and disability advocates who specialize in social security cases. He argues that some ongoing COVID-19 protocols and practices, including social distancing, working remotely and encouraging people to schedule appointments rather than show up at offices, hinder access to certain people who need it most.

Although it recommends appointments, the SSA says the vast majority of offices “have resumed in-person service for walk-ins”. Camp says that in practice, many offices “do not book appointments other than to book appointments,” which creates a barrier for applicants with severe disabilities.

“Because it’s a later date, it still causes problems for the more limited applicants.” A homeless person suffering from schizophrenia needs a reception structure,” he says. “We had local SSA offices available to help people for generations leading up to COVID, and we are struggling with the SSA not going back to what worked in the past.”

Telephone, online access encouraged

Since the reopening of field offices, SSA public communications and social media have encouraged people to call the agency’s national customer service number, 800-772-1213, or use the My Social online platform. Security whenever possible.

Many routine SSA services can be accessed online or by phone, including applying for several types of benefits, getting monthly payment estimates, applying for a Medicare or Social Security replacement card, and getting a benefit verification letter.

However, the national phone line has been plagued with service issues while the SSA implements a system-wide upgrade. A Sept. 6 post on the agency’s social media accounts noted that callers might experience “busy signals, dropped calls, and long wait times.” We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to fully restore phone service.

In July, the most recent month for which data is available, callers to the national number waited around 32 minutes on average to speak to an agent, up from 9 minutes a year earlier. The agency’s goal is to reduce response times to 12 minutes by September 30, 2023, according to an SSA report.

Angela Digeronimo, Social Security claims specialist, handles calls to her local office in Woodbridge, New Jersey, working remotely both in that role and as head of the American Federation union local. Government Employees representing SSA Field Office and Teleservices workers. She says working from home offers “a better way to provide service to the public than overcrowded waiting rooms and long wait times”.

“Working from home helps our employees find a work-life balance,” says Digeronimo. “The agency is not competitive in offering work-life balance. People want telecommuting. The first thing candidates ask is if the position is telecommuting eligible.

Camp says remote work is effective for some Social Security positions, such as administrative law judges who hear appeals in disability benefits cases, but it’s not a silver bullet for what ails client service.

“To claim that we can replace this level of in-person operation with remote work is to ignore what we are seeing in terms of the facts and the number of people served,” he says. “There’s no explanation other than it’s hard to get into an office, and there aren’t enough people when they get there.”

While accessing services by phone or online can save many people a trip to a field office, says Doggett, it may not be the best approach for recipients and applicants who are older or in poor physical or mental health.

“I know many older people aren’t as adept at using these services,” he says. “I agree that we need more employees in offices to take care of these issues. Virtual employees are simply not an adequate solution to this problem.

“While we understand your encouragement to use SSA’s online or telephone options,” LeaMond wrote in its letter to the agency, “we note that there are significant challenges with this strategy to reduce service issues. in field offices. Some services, such as applying for survivor benefits or SSI, cannot be completed online, she noted, and “even among those who prefer online services, many who apply for survivor benefits online social security eventually turn to an in-person or phone consultation for help.”

6 Social Security Tasks You Can’t Do Online

You can handle many Social Security matters entirely online, from registering a change of address to applying for retirement benefits. But there are still several services, some quite common, that require direct interaction with a live representative. Here are six things you can only do by calling the Social Security Administration (SSA) or visiting a local office.

Applying for survivor benefits: There is no online mechanism to apply for benefits on the income register of a deceased spouse, ex-spouse or relative. Call the SSA National Customer Service Line (800-772-1213) or contact your local office to file a complaint.

Declare a death: You must notify the SSA as soon as possible when a person who was receiving benefits dies. Often a funeral home will take care of this, but if you declare a death yourself, you will have to do it over the phone or at a Social Security office.

Request a death benefit: Spouses and children who are eligible for survivor benefits on a deceased loved one’s case may also be able to collect a one-time $255 death benefit from Social Security.

Apply for Supplemental Security Income (in most cases): You can start the SSI application process online, but except in very specific circumstances, you (or someone you designate to represent you) will need to meet with an SSA representative in person or by phone to complete it.

Become a representative beneficiary: Representative beneficiaries administer benefits for millions of Social Security beneficiaries who cannot do so themselves because of their age (eg, a young child) or disability. You must be approved by the SSA to fill this position, and the application process usually requires a face-to-face interview.

Apply for a new social security number: You usually cannot change your SSN, but Social Security will consider assigning a new number if you are at risk of domestic violence or suffer serious financial harm due to identity theft. You can only apply in person at an SSA office.

Ian Poulter is also part of the LIV Golf competition and many have wondered what his appearance on the DP World Tour would look like. The reception wasn’t as good, given the boos from the crowd, but Poulter is trying to calm things down and doesn’t want to be overwhelmed by the critics.

However, a video of him and Horschel during training sparked a lot of reactions. It looked like they were arguing. “It went very well, said Poulter for skysports. “I’m not really going to say much about it.

My phone number has not changed at all. I spoke with some of the boys. It doesn’t seem to be a problem since I spoke to them.” Poulter might have expected some backlash, so he wasn’t surprised.

His main goal is to ignore him and focus on his game. “We can always play this game of he said, she said, and little comments. It’s just easier if I don’t say anything. It’s easier for everyone to be honest. There’s had a lot of little comments in the last few weeks and I’m not going to comment on them.”

DP World Tour general manager Keith Pelley asked players not to wear LIV Golf clothes, but Poulter wore Majesticks clothes “I’ve had a lot of different brand shirts over the past few weeks,” Poulter said. “It’s a business that I actually own a part of, so it has a right to be there.

I’ve just had about six different sets of clothes in the last five weeks, of which I can’t go to the embroiderers and have another set made for this week. I’m here for three weeks, I’m traveling, so this is the set I brought.”

Samsung really likes to pick on Apple for barely introducing innovations with subsequent generations of iPhones. The Korean tech giant has embraced its pioneering role in the world of smartphones with its Z-series foldables – the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip.

However, even though Samsung believes foldables are the future of the smartphone market, the majority of the company’s sales are still standard candy-bar format phones similar to the iPhone, like the Galaxy S series for example. .

Samsung’s flagship series of non-folding smartphones has, much like Apple’s iPhone, barely changed in the past two years. It looks like next year’s lineup could be (almost) identical to its predecessor.

According to a recent leak first published by SlashLeaks and later covered by Sammobile in a dedicated article, the Galaxy S23 series will have very similar screen dimensions and sizes to the Galaxy S22 lineup.

The dimension of the standard Galaxy S23 will be said to be 146.3×70.9×7.6mm. For reference, the current Galaxy S22 measurements are 146 x 70.6 x 7.6mm. Pretty revolutionary, right?

The situation is also reproduced in the other two models. The S23 Ultra will allegedly have dimensions of 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9mm (the S22 Ultra’s are 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9mm). The Plus version is in a similar position – 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6mm for the S23+ compared to 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6mm for the current model.

On the other hand, screen sizes and display resolutions are virtually identical. The S22/S23 both feature a 6.1″ (2340×1080), the S22+/S23+ – a 6.6″ (2340×1080) and the S22 Ultra / S23 Ultra – a 6.8″ (3088 ×1440).

There is very little wiggle room if these numbers turn out to be true. Therefore, the only real upgrade the Galaxy S23 series will likely introduce will be on the inside.
