Independence Day weekend activities drew large crowds to Lititz on Friday

Friday night turned out to be quite the night in Lititz. The stores were open, the restaurants were full, and the park was packed. “It’s an Americana classic wherever you look up and down the streets,” said Sarah Harr, who attended the events for the evening. “People are really kissing on July 4th.” Part of this classic Americana includes annual events, like the Queen of Candles, which former participant Deborah Wier knows a little about. “My great-niece is going to enter the contest tonight, which is why I’m here,” Wier said. “And in 2017, her sister, Hannah, was also in the court of the Queen of Candles.” And the contest is just one of the many things to do. In the park there have been plenty of entertainment options, from food trucks to music. These are annual events that families like the Klines wouldn’t dare to dare. “Growing up in this environment is just a fun, family thing,” said Branson Kline. “Starting the tradition is wonderful.” But the locals aren’t the only ones having fun. The restaurant managers, like Rob Commero, have fun too. “It’s pretty awesome,” Commero said. “The staff continue to be, but we’re working on it and everyone here is doing their job so it’s awesome.” many residents were coming to events and taking to the restaurant scene.
