How to hide your phone number when making calls – Phandroid

When you call someone, your phone number appears. This is normal and a good thing because sometimes people don’t pick up calls from numbers they don’t know or numbers that have been withheld or blocked.

But if you’re concerned about your privacy and want to hide your number when making calls, it’s actually quite easy with a few tweaks to your phone settings. Keep in mind that this may not always work depending on your carrier. Sometimes a carrier can prevent number hiding at the network level, so even if you change your settings it might not work, but we’ve listed a few different ways you can try anyway.

Hide your phone number on Android

  1. Launch the Phone app on Android
  2. Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and tap Settings
  3. Tap Calling accounts
  4. Tap More features
  5. Tap Caller ID and call waiting
  6. Tap Caller ID
  7. Make sure “Hide number” is selected

Now what happens is that every time you make a call, the person receiving the call will not be able to see your number.

But what if you don’t always need to hide your number? What if you make a one-time call and you don’t want that person to know your number? Adjusting the settings every time can be annoying, but here’s a good workaround.

Hide your number on one-time calls

This method will work with US-based carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. If you are abroad or using another operator, you will need to find another method.

Verizon and T-Mobile

  1. Launch the Phone app
  2. Type *67 followed by the number you are trying to call, including the area code

AT&T

  1. Launch the Phone app
  2. Type *67 followed by the number you are trying to call with its area code, then end it with the symbol #
