Neetu Kapoor Says Ranbir Kapoor Misses Dad Rishi, Has Him As Phone Screensaver: “Somedays I see tears in his eyes…”

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020 after a grueling battle with cancer. Recently, his wife, actor Neetu Kapoor, spoke about the void he left behind and said there isn’t a day that they don’t remember him. She also said that the first six months after his death were very difficult for the family.

Speaking to News 18, Neetu said life would never be the same without Rishi. “The first six to seven months were really bad for all of us. We all cried a lot. But life must go on. I can’t cry and sit at home. We have all moved on but we still remember him everyday. She also said that Ranbir Kapoor misses his father very much and even has him as a screensaver for his phone. “There are days when I see tears in his eyes but he stays strong,” Neetu said.

On his 2nd death anniversary, Neetu shared on Instagram, “Today marks two years since Rishi Ji left us…losing a 45-year-old partner was difficult and painful at that time, the only way to heal my heart was to keep me mentally occupied.. Movies and television helped me achieve this. Rishiji will forever be remembered and will stay in everyone’s heart forever.

Ranbir has often spoken of his connection with Rishi Kapoor. In an old interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir recalled how he grew close to Rishi while directing his director, Aa Ab Laut Chalein. “I was an assistant by default, my ICSE counseling just ended and you usually go on vacation after that. So dad said to me, ‘Why don’t you come? You can take a vacation and help me. That’s when I really started to bond with Dad because we’ve never had such a friendly relationship because he was busy during my growing years. I was petrified of him when I was a kid, he told me to eat vegetables and I started crying. But Aa Ab Laut Chalein was when we bonded, we stayed together, right after we packed up and he would take me to fancy restaurants.

Rishi Kapoor’s last hurray was in the film Sharmaji Namkeen, released in March this year. Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir has Shamshera and Brahmastra in the pipeline.
