Report: Las Vegas Mother Charged With Cutting Teens With Car Says Her Son Was Bullied | New
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – A Las Vegas mother who allegedly cut several teens with her car in an after-school brawl has said her son has been the victim of bullying at school.
Jaquitta Madison, 36, was arrested after she allegedly cut several minors with her car on December 3 following a scuffle near Silvestri Middle School.
According to her police report, Madison confronted the parents of the student who allegedly bullied her son. As the argument between parents ensues, 20 to 30 students gather.
The argument between Madison and the family of the student accused of bullying escalated into a physical fight, according to the report. Madison walked over to her van and backed up, forcing the students to run to safety. The report said that while the van was in motion, a cell phone video showed a student in the passenger seat.
Police conducted surveillance outside Madison’s home where she was formally identified by witnesses and taken into custody.
Speaking with police, Madison said her son had been bullied for three months. Madison admitted to wanting to hit parents “a bit”, according to the report. Madison said she heard on the news that she cut four students, but she only remembered touching one.
Madison appeared in court on Tuesday and asked for time to hire her own lawyer instead of being appointed a public defender. The court record shows that she posted a bond and, as part of her bond terms, she is prohibited from going to the campus of Silvestri Middle School.
Madison is due to return to court on January 11.
