Tesco Website and App Disrupted Following “Attempted Interference With Our Systems” | UK News

Users of the Tesco website and app are experiencing disruption following an “attempted interference” with the system, the retail giant said.

The website and app have suffered outages since yesterday morning, meaning customers can’t place or track orders.

Website users receive an error message when trying to access the grocery store or use the search bar to search for products.

It is not known how widespread the problems are or how many customers have been affected.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Since yesterday we have experienced disruption to our website and our online grocery app.

“An attempt was made to interfere with our systems which caused problems with the search function on the site.

“We are working hard to fully restore all services and we apologize for the inconvenience caused.

“There is no reason to believe this issue is affecting customer data and we continue to take ongoing steps to ensure all data remains secure.”

Tesco first raised the issue on Saturday morning saying there was a “problem” and that they were “working hard to get things going.”

Sunday was the first time they had mentioned an attempted interference as the cause of the blackout.

Customers have complained to the retailer on Twitter, with many wanting to know how to cancel orders and if they can get a refund.

One of them posted: “Tried DM [direct message] to cancel my order for today last night but no one responded, and the website and app are still down! Guess I can just decline the order when it arrives? There are only two bottles of liquor in there to hold the slit, so it’s completely unnecessary for me. “

Another said: “Any updates when it might work again ?? I have a delivery booked for tomorrow and I need to update the order as only randomly ordered items! I don’t want to cancel as it is pretty hard to get a niche, just want to add the things I need. Has it been over 24 hours since you’ve been hacked? “

The problems arise after Tesco sees online sales skyrocket during the pandemic and containment.

These increased by 77% to reach £ 6.3bn between February 2020 and 2021, reaching almost a fifth of sales during the winter period.

Weekly delivery slots more than doubled to 1.5 million over 12 months.
