Mammoth Cave is an extraordinary natural wonder. Not only is it a national treasure, recognized by its designation as a national park, but it is also recognized as the longest and most biologically diverse cave system on the planet. To experience this vast underworld is a must for many reasons. And while many adventures exist both below and above ground at Mammoth Cave, the sky is the limit when it comes to this incredible park … literally. Because recently, Mammoth Cave added another feather to its superlative cap: designated Dark Sky Park. Mammoth Cave National Park is the first site operated by the National Park Service * and * Dark Sky Place in Kentucky to receive this designation, and it’s true: stargazing here is out of this world!
In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.
