If you absolutely need the iPhone 13 Pro Max and already own the 12 Pro Max, you can use this offer to cover the cost of the phone.

Apple

This story is part of Apple event, our comprehensive coverage of the latest Apple news.

Apples The iPhone 13 range is now available for pre-order, and the most exciting thing is clearly the trade-in offers. While this year’s phone is more of a refinement of last year’s iPhone 12 lineup, those who want to stay on the cutting edge could essentially get a iPhone 13 Pro Max by making a trade that includes up to $ 1,290 to the phone.

Let me clarify that this is not for everyone. In fact, it is quite specific. You must have purchased a iPhone 12 Pro Max and be such a phone enthusiast that you already know you want to upgrade to the 13 Pro Max, although it’s not as big a jump as let’s say, switch from iPhone X or iPhone XS.

You must also be interested in switching to T-Mobile or already be a current T-Mobile customer, and you want to sign up (or agree to keep) their Magenta Max plan – which includes perks like HD-level streaming. Netflix and 4K video over a cellular connection.

So, are you a big phone fan who also wants the most expensive plan from T-Mobile? If so, here’s what you can do to get iPhone 13 Pro Max basically for free.

T-Mobile’s iPhone 12 Pro Max offering is listed on Apple’s website.

Apple

First of all, first buy the iPhone 13 Pro Max directly from Apple’s website. When you do, select T-Mobile for details of the trade-in offer, which states that the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with up to $ 1,290 in credit. If your phone is in good condition (that is, there is no cracked screen or other damage), $ 790 will come from Apple. The remaining $ 500 will come from T-Mobile in the form of a bill credit.

Credits are given regardless of the storage capacity of your iPhone 12 Pro Max, so if you bought the 128GB version last year for $ 1,099, you may be able to upgrade to the 256GB version of the 13 Pro. Max and pay part of the phone tax.

For the first $ 790, Apple will give it to you either as instant credit if you choose to pay for the phone in monthly installments, or as credit after trading in the 12 Pro Max. Once Apple’s portion of the deal is set, you will receive a promo code to enter on T-Mobile’s website to receive the remaining $ 500 as bill credits distributed over the 24 months (a just under $ 21 per month).

The T-Mobile offer listed on Apple’s website also has trade-in offers if you hand in an iPhone X or iPhone 11.

Apple

Yes, as is often the case since the “death” of the two year contract, if you want to receive the full $ 500, you will need to stay on T-Mobile for those 24 months. But $ 1,290 should cover the cost of the 256GB iPhone 13 Pro Max, or a few hundred more for the 512GB or 1TB option.

This method also gives you access to T-Mobile’s “Forever Upgrade” program which guarantees that your new Pro Max will be worth at least $ 800 in two years, if you then wish to trade it in with the carrier.

What the iPhone 13 is still missing

A hidden twist for those who made a deal on last year’s 12 Pro Max

Here is where your mileage may still vary. We asked T-Mobile on Friday if this promotion is in addition to the carrier’s earlier offerings over the past year for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. They said yes, and if that holds up, you might be able to pocket any promotion and get the iPhone 13 Pro Max covered by the new credits.

As long as you stay with T-Mobile for the remainder of that funding term (which you are probably expecting to get the $ 500 rebate we talked about above), you should still be able to continue getting those credits even if you trade in the phone to Apple.

Note that if you change before the end of your term, you will lose the T-Mobile credits from the Apple agreement and you will have to pay the remaining balances. Mathematics of carriers!

In my personal experience, when I called T-Mobile customer service, I was told that the exchange would require me to pay off the remaining balance of the iPhone 12 Pro Max that I bought last summer. with a credit of $ 500 which is being dispersed over two years. Accordingly, I strongly suggest that existing T-Mobile customers call their helpline to make sure that this promotion path works for you, especially if you are already receiving a dealership.

Would you consider this upgrade to stay on the cutting edge of technology? Or do you prefer your current iPhone or Android phone? Tell us in the comments.
