WhatsApp is working on a feature called phone number sharing option for a future update that will allow users to hide their phone numbers from certain subgroups.
WhatsApp is a messaging app where you can either chat with a person individually or form a group. If you’re added to a group with someone else, there may be participants in the group that you don’t know. However, you will still be able to see their mobile number and vice versa. But now WhatsApp is working on an option using which you will be able to hide your phone number from certain subgroups of a community. This feature called phone number sharing option is being worked on by the online messaging app for future update.
Informing on the same WABetaInfo tweeted, “WhatsApp beta for Android 22.214.171.124: what’s new?” WhatsApp is working on hiding phone numbers to certain subgroups of a community through a phone number sharing option, for a future app update! According to a report by WABetaInfo, after updating WhatsApp new beta version for Android 126.96.36.199, the phone number sharing option can be discovered directly in the group information section.
Also, the phone number sharing option is disabled by default. This means that as soon as you join a community, your phone number will be hidden immediately. However, if you want to share your number with a certain subset of a community, you are free to do so.

It should be noted that this privacy option is only limited to communities and they are still under development. Therefore, the release date of it is not yet known.
WABetaInfo via another tweet also informed that the official status update will be rolled out today, August 6th. He further informed that voicemail will now become easier. Users will be able to speed up to hear the story faster, continue listening while chatting with others, and can even record, pause, continue voicemail when ready.
